Weather today - 22 degrees C and not a cloud in the sky. It has now started to feel like a holiday. Early start but everything fell into place. Had a very comfortable night considering. Crawled out of bed to get to the airport for our 7am flight to London. We now experienced 2 further technical delays with the plane that held us up until 830. Instead of arriving at Heathrow airport at 9pm we arrived at 945 pm as they managed to pick up some time by only having a one hour stop at Dubai and then, according to the pilot, flew at a faster speed than normal over Europe. This first day was supposed to be a simple straightforward one consisting of 3 flights over a period of 37 hours. This all changed after the first 3½ hours when in Sydney we were told that our flight to London via Dubai would be delayed 15 hours while they changed an engine. We leave today for a 9 week trip to Spain, Portugal, Gibraltor, England and Canada. It is our first time to Spain, Portugal and Gibraltor where we will be travelling by car. Our time in England is to visit with Anne's sister and some of Bruce's ex colleagues from his days with Racal. Canada sees Bruce visiting with his family while Anne stays on in England with her sister. We will meet up again at Vancouver airport to return to New Zealand
