Cuba - More than old cars
As most things were closed in town we headed off for a drive around part of Shuswap Lake. Headed for Margaret Falls which was worth the trip and short 15 minute walk off the road. The trail up to the falls was along a creek in a rocky chasm. It had been kept as an ecosystem and had many fallen and leaning trees along the way. It was a hot day today and walking along the creek to the falls was nice and cool. Behind the falls is a cave and a couple of kids were attempting to get to them. We did not hang around to see if they were successful or not as we did not want to be involved in picking up the pieces. The water was really cold and they were visibly shivering. We thought the volume of water was also probably too much and as they were skinny little things they would probably be swept away by it if they did not slip and fall first.
Many different views of the lake - all quite different. Only saw one deer on the side of the road - no bears or moose. Turned around once the sealed road ended.
Back in Salmon Arm we did find a gallery that was open. The owner of the gallery was also the artist and her work was quite interesting. The main exhibition was on cave drawings around the world but she also had other works. Spent quite a bit of time with her and she showed us through her working studio. She worked with different media and had a huge number of products and aids to help produce her paintings.
Across the road from the gallery was an ice cream shop and being a very hot (32C) day we felt like we should have one - as if we needed an excuse. Bruce always looks for licorice ice cream and this time found it. He can be seen in the photos with his llicorice and orange cone.
Later that evening we went to the only restaurant that seemed to be open. It was a German restaurant (Hedi's) with lovely food. So we have come to Canada and have breakfast in a French cafe (Cafe Tasse) and dinner in a German restaurant. Who needs to go to Europe!

David Give us a lick!!!
Lesley I think this trip is a fake!!!!! This could be Milford Sound.
Lesley Another idea for my blanket squares!!!
roslyn1234 Love the knitted cover on the seat. Our rail station has new metal seats which are freezing now......I sat down last week and got up in a mighty hurry much to the amusement of the bystanders.....then in summer seat will be burning hot. BUT vandal proof I guess. Keep enjoying everything including the licorice ice cream Bruce. Xxxx
Gael Insane!
Gael Looks pretty - but will retain the water when it's raining - you could get up looking like you've 'had an accident' !!!
Gael Milford Sounds all over again!
Steve Mackay .. and I thought it was cold here!
Allison Jealous...liquorice is my favourite ice cream!
Allison Ps first time I ever had liquorice ice cream was with Racal in Wellington when I went on a work dinner with Jel, I think 1993!
