Douglas Brown's Travels
Day 15
After last night dinner I declared I was never eating again. However, I was in the dinning room at 7:30am for breakfast.
We set out on a guided walking tour of the city at 9 am. This certainly is a very beautiful city an one of the best preserved old quarters that I have seen thus far.

I made an audio recording of the tour and when I get home to Australia I will edit it and add it as a link to this blog.
Two things stuck in my mind about the tour, one an old fact and the other a relatively new fact. Bata shoes was founded in Prague. Best known in Australia for Bata school shoes. The interesting fact was that Mr Bata first used the marketing technique of advertising a price of $9.99.
The second fact was that house numbering for letter delivery was invented in Prauge. Prior to that each house had an emblem emblazoned above the door. In the old town many of these emblems still exist. ( birds, dogs, sheep, pigs etc)
We walked from the old town across the Charles Bridge towards the castle.

The streets were so steep and the cobble stones twisted my knees in all directions. My bad knee became very sore and not wishing to aggravate it too much, I sat out the last our of the tour.
I found a little restaurant at the base of the castle wall. I am seated there sipping latte, listening to live violin music and writing this blog.
While sitting here enjoying the sun a tour group on Segways went by. Now in hind sight that would have been the way to see the city.
It was so pleasant sitting at this cafe that I stayed for lunch and two beers before walking my way back to the hotel at about 2pm. On the way I was tempted by street food and many tour options. However, I resisted knowing that we once again would have a large dinner.
I rested in my room until 7pm when it was time to meet in the lobby for our customary walk to a restaurant for dinner.
Tonights dinner was at one of the oldest beer houses in the city. While we ate several tour groups were shown through the beer house as it was an attraction on their tour.
