A quick update to let people know how we spent the money that you generously gave before we left for Tanzania. It wasn't easy to find the best way to be sure that the money would benefit the children! But in the end, we spent it like this:
Finishing off painting the orphanage (it was half done): 245,000 Tanzanian Shillings or about £100
Revarnishing the floor in the children's main living area - it was really dirty, and will be much easier to keep clean and a better place for the children to play: 490,000 TSh or about £200
Some money for food/running costs for the orphanage: 250,000 TSh or about £100
A donation to a school in Arusha where we stayed for a couple of nights. It was just an ordinary school trying to teach ordinary children, but we felt that we would like to support the work that they were doing there, and we could trust mama Helen to spend the money wisely. 250,000 TSh or about £100
We spent a bit more on toys, baby wipes, cloths etc
I've put a few before and after photos in an album called "New floor, new walls." Hope you can see what's going on! And the picture above is (I think) Felipe enjoying a delicious meal of rice and spinach!
Thank you very much for helping to make the children's lives a bit better.

Claire, Kevin and family It's wonderful to think you have all touched the lives of those beautiful babies and you have unselfishly given them your love and time. Well done and I agree, money very well spent indeed – thank you guys.
