Hi Mike, So where are you now. The diary seems to have dried up and to be honest the menu system supplied by statraveljournals don't seem to be that intuitive.
I am over here in Florida myself for our annual LotusSphere bash. We have just had Business Development Day and tomorrow the conference starts for real.
At last IBM seem to be telling us a consistent message with regard to the software technology they have....
Hope you are well,
Best regards
Marcus

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - wherever you are!

Happy times in the land of Oz. The diving sounds wonderful. Keep sending those pics through too... enjoy your time with Sly and Trinks which I am sure is coming up soon...we have what I am sure will be a muddy Christmas ride coming up soon, ending another good year of riding. Weather is awful here at the moment, rain, rain, rain and more rain...and some wind thrown in for good measure (lovely!) but off to SA in three weeks for a bit of welcome sunshine. Need i say it...have fun and safe travels Mike!

Hi Mike from Oz, thanks for all your photos and notes, makes great reading. China was great wasn't it? You seem to have done a fair bit of roaming since then, keep it up and enjoy! Have done a few rides since being home, but nothing to compare with riding into Yangshuo. Take care - K.

Well, sounds like you got used to the diving thing very quickly. Not sure if I'd like all those sea creatures all over me though. Your log reminds me of the film "Open Water". Did you ever see that? Where two divers get left behind and eventually get eaten by sharks(!). Tis only a film but a lasting memory for me is the scene where they are frantically and uselessly waving at a cruise ship on the horizon.
Made me realise how hostile the sea really is and how synthetic and protected our lives are here in Europe.
Mike, thanks for your trip updates - I really enjoy reading them. My guess is that you will find it quite hard to get back into the corporate world when you return so enjoy every minute (Hmmm - you don't need me to tell you that). Also remember that whilst you could be lonely out there on your own, you have a group of followers with you on-line...
I look forward to your next log entry :o)

Got to your site at long last. Boy, you are having a FAB time. I like your message about cute babies and kitties. Do you know that you can always sneak them in your rugsack - you know :-)
Anyway, I'll be looking out for new posting - so keep on writing. Miss you lots as always.

Hey Mike
Sounds like you're having a great time and having lots of wonderful experiences.
Diving in Thailand sounds much more exciting way to learn than my murky green lake and swimming pool experience :)
Keep havin fun and I look forward to your next installment.
Cali
Boy, are you having a great time!
I'm so jealous of the diving in Thailand, sounds like it was really awesome. I just got a mail from my dive school and they're doing a weeks luxury live aboard in the Carribean at Christmas - how tempting is that? Get away from all this stress and work and gloomy weather, in fact just like you've done!
Sounds like you are having some great adventures and meeting tons of cool people.
We're all really enjoying reading your updates so keep it up
Marcus
Hi Mike,
China looks and sounds amazing. Since I have Chinese ancestry I really should try to get over there and it sounds like your itinery is a great "Chinese taster".
BTW, dim sum for breakfast sounds fantastic to me - tho' it depends on what goes in it. Of course over here it's prawn, chicken, beef and pork but how do you know that you are not eating dog, monkey rat or horse? Anyhow, thanks for the diary. It is great reading and it really is a case of "wish I was there"! :o)

Hi Mike
Sounds like you are in paradise at the moment!!
Just want to check with you if you would mind if I use your single-speed MTB?
Front shocks on the Cannondle need a service so am trying not to ride it until fixed.

Hi Mike
Your China trip brought back many memories. Travelling there really does impact one.... Glad you did not have to endure the $2 hotel nights and some of the chinese plumbing!!! (or perhaps you did, but were reserved in your comments).
We{re in S America now and having a ball. Things here are cheaps and there is plenty to keep us amused...hikes, mountain bike rides, rafting.....
Look forward to your next update.

Awesome! If you ever want to redo any part odf this trip - pick me....
In fact, for your godson, I feel a good bonding would be to take the family on an inspiring journey like this....when he is still young, open minded, easily influenced....
Looking forward to seeing you at the end of the year - a holiday for us at last!
Have a blast and keep the news and pics rolling in x
