Brie & Trent's Travels
So we had a great nights sleep which was sooo wonderful after the bed bug incident. We are going to make sure to take some pictures of the hostel that we are staying in because it is probably the nicest one we will get to stay in.
Yesterday we just took it easy after getting into Vienna... we deserved a break. We had a nice siesta after eating at this Turkish restaurant... so delicious yet so un-Austrian... oh well.. Im not really one to sink my teeth in a huge wiener sausage thing...yumm... We took wonderously cold showers which seem to be hard to come by which still boggles my mind. Last time I checked cold water was a hell of a lot cheaper to supply than hot water, but it seems as if the hostels have their showers rigged to be warm at the coolest... so odd..
So the hostel has a garden, bar, kitchen and lounge area with a piano. I wish I played.. I really wish Trent could plaz guitar for me in the garden.. now that would be nice.
We decided to just hang at the hostel and have some cheap beers. We met a couple of older men that spend 3 to 6 months out of every year traveling and they were telling us some of our stories. The guy that travels 6 months each year only has 6kilos of luggage, and most is books I guess. I cant believe that considering I have a little over 12 kilos for 3 weeks.... i guess hes got it down. I dont think I could travel with less than 10.
The cold beer was delicious and we met some Australian guys and headed to this other hostel around the corner that had an underground bar with more cheap beers and we hung out there all night. It was goodtimes. Those Australians really know how to have a good time thats for sure.
We woke up and headed to the supermarket to take advantage of the big clean kitchen at the hostel and I made us some eggs!!!! yum! and some bread with butter. Hot breakfast was such a treat. I think we are going to head to the market again tonight to get some stuff to make huge salads for dinner. I cant wait.. vegetables seem to be so hard to come by here. I cant wait to try some of those funky cheeses they have there too.
After breakfast we headed out to explore Vienna, and we did our own free walking tour (because the one at the hostel costs 16e.. to walk?? hmm...) which was sufficient. I love Vienna. It is a huge city but so clean. It makes such a difference when it is clean... it just looks so much nicer.
We saw soo many grand buildings... I dont really know the names, but Trent will fill in the blanks. I love all of the fountains.. and they are clean as well which is different as well considering in Spain they had trash floating in them and you couldnt see to the bottom.
I have to admit... I broke down today. I know youre not going to believe me when I tell you this but I ate McDonalds... and by choice. Trent was completely disgusted but oh well. I bought a fried fish sandwich at this stand which is also unlike me and it was really gross so I needed something I could count on and McDonalds it was.. plus they had ice. You really cant beat that. It was the nicest McDOnalds I have been in though which was cool I guess. Trent tried to talk himself into eating some wiener but he couldnt and he just ate a slice of pizza instead.
We are supposed to drink coffee here and eat sausage.. but the only thing im interested in is some strudel which we#ll eat for breakfast tomorrow. yum.
Trent and I are having lots of laughs together which is great. We're good traveling partners. Our favorite new game is to talk about things we would eat. We both want burritos from Nicos sooo bad... along with PLSF, ice, and pomas of course.
Oh and by the way, on the last journal entry Trent said it was a good choice to sleep in the bed at the nasty hostel, but his bites started showing up last night and they are everywhere... i feel so bad for him... but I told him it mightve been worse if I had them because I would not be a fun person to be around thats for sure. So I rated the hostel and made a comment that it was unsanitary and there were bed bugs everywhere and they sent me an email today saying that it wasnt a big deal and that all hostels have them and they were only in a few beds.... right... that place was sick.
Love u all... I cant wait to see Budapest now.. I guess there is a huge musical festival going on right now and I really want to check it out.
