Having a lovely time on La Digue! Such a different experience from the cosy safe resort on Mahe though. We're well aware that we are tourists in a small town. The island is inhabited by 2000 people only so they come across as being quite clannish, bit like Shamballymore :) It's very underdeveloped, shanty galvanised houses, imported western logo'd labels, Dirt tracks for roads or cemented tracks for tourists down the east coast. Very black African gangster music interspersed with Bob Marley. Intimidating if you stray off the tourist paths so of course.... you don't. Luckily speaking the odd bit if French to them seems to please.
Now back to the tourist side of things, I snorkelled today for the first time ever, wow how amazing. We spent hours under the surface looking at zebra fish, silver dollar oscars perhaps, other coloured individuals, need to look them up when we get home. Now, you know how in Ireland we say, 'ah it'll be grand', well that doesn't translate well into Seychellois, especially when you're talking about snorkelling in water, in cloudy and rainy conditions and not wearing sun cream on your legs???? Yes, even in the rain, under water, you can still burn your legs. Lying here on the bed with a cold towel on them at the mo. that'll learn me won't it!!! :D Still and all, snorkelling was brilliant, only went out a few metres and saw loads, we kept behind the reef so if any sharks thought it was lunch, they'd not be able to get to us. Well last night's Italian buffet was the best yet, it's Indian tonight and I can't wait. Toodle pip for now xxx

Rick Eliason Love this. We're off to the Seychelles in June for our Honeymoon and I've been compiling a list of things to do while out there - snorkelling/diving is definitely high on the list! Read it here if interested: http://wealthinmemories.com/things-to-do-in-the-seychelles/
