Today I'm headed down to the jolly ol' yacht club to see if they need a deckhand.
Sailing at 5pm to about 7. After that it's mad chill time...i'm beat. I ordered a calling card, got a visa and my gear arrived from REI.
Sailing was incredible. I walked down the pier to find Dave Mason honking his horn from across the street. Little did I know he was actually trying to run me over right in front of the CC Yacht Club. "Good job Dave, now I have no legs and you're going to jail". Nah, that really wasn't the case--he invited me out to his boat then we proceeding to talk about long boats...and thankfully that was the end of that conversation.
Once inside the Yacht club, I walked on the dock and found who had the huge blue hulled boat I watched a week prior. I found the boat, jumped on and became an instant crew member. It wasn't like I got a matching hat, but next time?
The boat was normal for a boat race--very quick, high intensity and lots of grinding on the winches. They let me grind a few out, but I was counting down the minutes until it would end for the pinched nerve in my back was hating me as much as the rest of my body was enjoying the speed.
Back in the harbor, we put the boat away, shook hands and went over to another commandeered vessel owned by a guy who wasn't even present for the race. Additionally, Jim an older dude I just met turned the kitchen into the bar and instantly reached for the Mount Gay Rum Pineapple Juice, OJ and tonic. This was a good sign. We practically killed the bottle and with my two glasses, I sent myself staggering back down the dock.
After that. Um, I watched the movie Jumper and now, I know what I want to be when I grow up. Tomorrow=muster, gear prep, and finishing touches. I also need to make sure the logisticals of movers and the new place are ready. Leave me messages
