We finally arrived at our hotel last night around 5! We were sooooo beat out. Ate supper and went to bed! Early rise at about 6 this morning to be out at the bus by 8, then we headed for Beaumont-Hamel! There are no words to describe the memorial... it just looks like a simple, peaceful park now, but when they tell the stories about what happened, it is so hard to believe that such nightmares could have happened in such a now beautiful place.We also visited a few cemeteries and had little ceremonies there for those who died. Finally, we visited the great war museum! Such amazing artifacts, like old uniforms, and I was especially blown away by the sketches by Otto Dix... its crazy to try and imagine what he must have been thinking when he drew them! tomorrow we have a ceremony for the Battle of the Somme at Beaumont-Hamel.. another exciting day ahead!
