We arrived in Central Talca late evening. We needed to head to the outskirts to a lovely complex called Casa Chueca.
Our room was great. And the showers hot...not always a given.
Franz runs the hostel and also has a trekking business. He has over 15 years experience of South America so if there's anything you need, he can sort it out for you! So much so, that after our long chats we decided to change our route and head back north.
The next day we headed into town. Talca is fairly big so we spent a good couple of hours exploring. It started to get dark so we needed to get the Taxixtual (bus) back to the hostel. We jumped on the one we thought would be correct BUS A... unfortunately there are two BUS As, one goes to San Clemente and the one we needed, to San Valitine. An hour or so later we did manage to hop onto the right bus. Joy!!
After Breakfast Franz joined us and helped us decide what route we would take. We had planned to head south to region X called Patagonia, but Franz recommended we head North as the weather in the south would be too cold and wet and we wouldn't get the full beauty of this region. Sooooo north it shall be!
We just spent another day chilling and relaxing in the sun!
The next morning we rose nice and early. We set out for a nice run inti the Chilean countryside. The views were lovely, the Andean mountains stretching for miles around us. After a nice hot shower we headed to town for dinner!
Later that evening we joined the group and sampled the local red wine that we had bought. Cheap and bloody tasty...Perfect!
After breakfast we hired some mountain bikes and headed out on a 6 hour route that Franz had recommended. It would take us up into the Chilean hills and allow us to get some fantastic views of the city and surrounding landscape. The weather was fantastic! Paul happened to select a bike for me that had a back wheel so buckled that it wouldn't spin freely....knackered!!
The ride took us through the wine vineyards and over breathtaking views of the city.
In the Morning we settled our bills etc and headed into Talca... Next stop Valparaiso to the North!
