We´ve met up with our group in La Paz and travelled 5 hours by bus and 10 hours by train to Uyuni in Bolivia. So a lot of time to get to know one another. There are 15 of us, a good crew and all up for a good time.
We spent the next 3 and a half days in a 3 Toyota Landcruisers. The landscape varied alot and we travelled to various geological formations, rock trees, geysers, red lagoons and hot springs. Some smooth terrain, some very hairy terrain, but Jose our driver was a pro. His taste in music was not soo hot! We stayed in hostels with no heating and no showers....so we all collectively honked!
We ended on the salt flats yesterday, which is a 12km squared lake. We visited a cactus island and the salt hotel. Next month the majority of the lake will be flooded due to the rainy season, so it was great to see.
Our guide for the next 20days "Ze", arranged for us a bus to take us to Potosi, this journey took 8hours. Not including the hour while the bus drove around looking for petrol. (we got some from a small shop). It was a bouncey ride. We actually had to wait at one point while the road workers finished their work on the new road before we could travel any further.
Travel in Bolivia is an experience all on it´s on.
