Today Jesse was sick, but he still wanted to keep going towards home, so after a slightly delayed start, we have (almost) arrived in Bourke. He slept most of the day, but he’s on the mend, so should be more himself again tomorrow.
Highlights were few today, but included a sunny lunch stop in Cunnamulla, crossing the state border into NSW (yay!), seeing plenty of roos and emus, and beautiful afternoon light on the grasslands and scrub as we approached Bourke.
We’re holed up at Kidmans Camp (www.kidmanscamp.com.au) outside Bourke; we haven’t explored the place yet because the sun was setting as we arrived, but the amenities block is gorgeous, with solid wooden doors, benchtops made from enormous slices of hardwood tree trunk, signs painted on saw blades, and clothes hooks made from horseshoes. Pity about the water-saving shower roses!
