Friday-We have just been to the most amazing place-Cataract Gorge in Launceston. The views are out of this world. We walked up one side of the mountain-millions of steps! and then around the gorge and water course. Around the early 1900's the people got together and cleared out the gorge and made it like and English Garden but later on all the English plants were removed and Australian natives were reintoduced. The bolders and rocks are gigantic with fantastic shapes. The weather was beautiful- warm and blue skys.
THe photo is of the Gorge but it doesn't do justice to it.
Thursday-We went to St Helens today which is not far from Launceston. It is right on the tip of Tasmania. The wind blew and it rained and it was really cold! Especially on the point the weather was pretty wild. We also saw the Bay of Fire but unforunatley we didn't get the best views because of the weather. It is best seen on a sunny day as the red rocks seem to come alive. Tomorrow we are headed for Evandale to watch the Penny Farthing racees. Aparently it is a big festival day so should be fun. Good luck to Sally and Peter who are racing tomorrow.
When we arrived here our thoughts were that we would set up camp and then do a few day drips from there but now we think it would be best to pack up every morning and just see where we end up. We are getting our camper trailer set up and put down to a short time (and without fighting!). Amazing how you can do this after a few weeks!
Love to everyone
