Im on the phone to my parents. What better time to do some blog writing. And better still its the first time I have written a blog so soon after the previous one. Its only been 3 days but i have travelled through 2 countries. I am writing from Granada in Nicaragua. After I wrote last, I bought a bus ticket leaving at 4 am the next morning. So i decided not to sleep that night so that I would be able to sleep on the bus. We went out for a while and I ran into a guy I met a week earlier at a party I went to and we were hanging out with a guy who everyone who he walked past called out to him Jesùs due to his remarkable resemblence and the fact that he wore sandals. It was a very random night and one that didnt end so well. I made it to the bus however and unfortunately did not sleep at all. I arrived in Honduras around 10 in the morning with the intention to sleep but instead teamed up with a guy from el salvador I met on the bus and had breakfast then checked out the Copan Ruins which were really amazing. Then was meant to come sleep. But I needed to do some things on the internet and by the time I finished I had lost the guy from el salvador who had the key so I spent part of the afternoon lying in a hammock but unable to sleep. then started the torrential rains that are all to common in this region and the streets started to flood. I decided to go out and get lunch but ended up only getting a coffee and despite carrying an umbrella I was soaked straight away. I returned to the room half an hour later to find the room open which was a relief but instead of sleeping I had a shower then went to get dinner. Again ended up covered in water. Eventually I got back to the room and managed to sleep at 8pm after being awake over 30 hours.
Early the next morning I caught the bus to San Pedro Sula in honduras but missed the connection to Nicaragua so decided that I really needed to find a beach so I travelled for a couple of hours to the Caribbean coast and went for a swim on a really nice beach which was close to deserted. By the time I got back to the main town I was trying to decide whether or not to find a hostel or try and not sleep as the bus was at 4 am the next morning. My desire to sleep won out and I spent a few hours trying to find the hostel which was not so conveniently placed. I spent the day on the road yesterday and arrived in managua (the capital of nicaragua) last night and decided tto stay there the night with some people i met on the bus because I was too tired and it was too late. So this morning I arrived in granada, it was an uneventful day apart from the pre-Carnivale celebrations tonight. It was quite amazing but it was still hard to believe that an event aimed at teenagers and adolescents could be sponsored by a beer company. But then again its not Australia!!!
Some people maybe wondering why I am travelling so quick at the moment but its solely because i have to be in panama in 10 days to fly to colombia. i wish i had more time as this is one of the most amazing parts of the world but I am sure I will return in the future. Its almost 1am so time for bed.
