The apartment would have been perfect if not for the crowing rooster who woke me throughout the night & a slightly annoying headache. Mere steps from the bed I was able to make a coffee & some cereal before showering & getting organised to take my bag and go. I mainly wanted to ride the new tram Aruba had installed to get tourists further into town than just the shops near the cruise terminal. Designed in San Fransisco they had that old look & only took about 10 mins to trundle up & down the Main Street of shops. Best of all it was free so after clambering on with my bag through the open sides with all the Dutch/German Cruisers I was soon at the bus station waiting the the 10.40 departure. About 10.45 there was still no show & upon asking it seemed that line wasn't running (despite confirming at the ticket desk when arriving) but I was pointed to another bus that was leaving almost immediately. Unexpectedly at check-in I had to pay a $34.25 departure tax (grrr) & then follow the long process of security, immigration, security again then pick up bag, USA immigration, drop bags again & finally wait around at the gate for my once again slightly late flight. Luckily we were fed on the flight, a mediocre fried rice thing with sweet biscuits & drinks but it was better than nothing. 3 hours & we were soon approaching Miami. I had a few hours before Sean's flight arrived so I investigated how to get to Miami beach by public transport doing a trial run through the airport, onto the free airport connection train & walking to where the bus stop was. In the end Sean's flight, although it landed early didn't get a gate for almost an hour so once he arrived, with a brief hello & grumpy after no sleep on the plane we decided the expensive taxi was the easiest option. $35USD set fee & we were deposited at the Clay Hotel which was surrounded by restaurants on the Espanola Way. At reception we were a little worried about the noise but once in the room it was surprisingly quiet. After a refreshing shower we went out for dinner, sharing a pizza then returned to the hotel so Sean could get some sleep.
