Off to Prague today so we were up ready to catch the 9.08 train. It was just over two hours & the journey was very scenic as the railway line ran along the Elbe river almost the whole way. Once we arrived into Prague it was about a 10 min walk to the hotel, passing along the top of Wenceslas square. Unfortunately our room wasn't ready so we left our bags & headed down the square towards the old town stopping to share a pizza for lunch. It certainly wasn't as cheap in the Czech Republic as it had been 10 years ago but it was still about a quarter cheaper than the Euro zone. Back at the hotel we could check in so we relaxed for a while & I used the chance to call dad for Father's Day. We didn't end up heading out again until 6pm as despite having a coffee at 4.30pm I fell asleep. Back towards the old town we came to the Old Town Square & the famous astronomical clock. Hoards of tourists were already milling around waiting for the clock to go off even with 30mins still to wait. Cutting down away from the crowds we came to the river & crossed over then wandered along the streets to reach the next bridge over- The Charles Bridge. Also packed with tourists it was hard to see how impressive the fifteenth century bridge with its numerous statues mounted along the sides was. Back in the old town we found a somewhat reasonably priced cafe where I had a Goulash Soup which came served in a large hollowed out round bread roll. From here we continued back to the hotel hoping to sort out some more hotel bookings.
