Dublin
Today we slept in until about 9, which was really nice and much needed. We then had a quick shower and went down to breakfast and went out, yesterday's tickets included tickets on the hop on hop off bus so we went to the bus stop to get on.
We got off at stop 11 where we got off and went for a bit of a walk over the water to the Old Jamerson Distillery where we walked around and learnt about the making of whisky.
Following this we walked back over the water and headed for what is called Dublinia which is a museum about medieval and viking Dublin which also lead into the Dublin Castle. Trav really enjoyed this tour.
St Patrick's Cathedral was next as we walked around Dublin. We have been in quite a few cathedrals throughout this trip, and Trav and I have decided that they have all started to look the same!! After this it was "coffee time" and headed for the regular "Trav sized" coffee at Starbucks. I thing we will have to get shares in Starbucks in the near future!!
Next stop was the Wax Museum. We were hesitant to go in as we had been the Madame Tussaunds in Amsterdam but this was very different and more a learning museum. First flaw was about the history, second was kids level where we had to climb through a tunnel, and there was Santa and his workshop and cartoon hero's and also a science gallery and top floor was movie and TV stars and sports stars. On the way out it had was called grand hall finale and they had Michael Jackson, U2, Ronan Keating, Madonna, James Bond and the Joker just to name a few in here.
After this it was time to head towards Grafton Street, the shopping and main strip of Dublin. It was a very short street with minimal shops! There was more bars and restaurants then shops!
Dinner was next and the last thing we did before getting back on the bus and heading back to the hotel. Tonight for tea we went to a Chinese and Malaysian restaurant and what a great choice! We got two courses for $8.50. What a bargain!
Sweet dreams,
Bree and Trav
