More of the same from Cheyenne this morning, grass, grass and hmm…more grass. We cover a few hundred miles like this with not much relief from the relentless desert of rolling grassland. Finally we see the Black Hills 'Paha Sapa' in Lakota, the local Indian people. Heading into Custer and seeing directions to towns like Deadwood you know you are in Buffalo Bill and Calamity Jane country! We drive through town and make our way to our home for the next few days - Horsethief Campground. This secluded spot is on The Needles Highway and perfectly situated for Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse memorial and Custer State Park. We set up on our pitch, making all our connections before walking back down to reception. We spot a pitch we prefer and having spoken to our camp hosts walk back up the hill to the van, disconnect everything, move the van to pitch #2 and start the process over. Finally settled, it's on with the meat, out with the beer and a pleasant evening chilling out before bed.
