Brenton Kovacs's Travels
Hong Kong
Took the ferry from Macau to Hong Kong. With the calm seas the trip took 1 hour. The walk from the ferry terminal to the hotel took about half an hour. This is because I didn't do any research on how to get to the hotel. Found out after we could have caught the subway right to the door.
The city is certainly a busy city, people everywhere, day and night. Its very cosmopolitan but it is also very polluted. The air quality is bad. Visibility is bad. The view from Victoria Peak was very disappointing as the smog ruined any chance of a good view or photo. Otherwise Hong Kong is just another busy overpopulated city.
We did managed many ks of walking in Nathan Road Kowloon. This is home to a huge range of designer knock-off stuff. Very touristy. Walk off the main road and then you really find the true essence of Hong Kong. Tiny little stalls and food markets.
Hong Kong is much the same once you get onto the back streets. The best part about walking these areas is no hassling. Stuff here is no cheaper than home, especially in the electronics stuff. Clothes and shoes etc are cheaper at home as well. So we didn’t buy anything.
You can eat cheap though. We had a great lunch in a little back street café for under $10AU. Early night tonight as we leave for Kuala Lumpur tomorrow

Adrya Kovarch Probably looks best at night - the camera takes great night photos - do you use a flash Alan?
Adrya Kovarch Yes looks like Hong Kong - glad we don't have to live like this! We are very lucky being born in Australia
Adrya Kovarch What a shot - you have really got composition and lighting down Alan - brilliant!
Adrya Kovarch At least the water looked blue when you were there. It was like dish water when we were there.
Adrya Kovarch Interesting shot with the light beams. Very impressed by the camera night shots!
Adrya Kovarch For such a small place they really pack the buildings in.
Adrya Kovarch A place that does not look like it was built for people.
Adrya Kovarch Wow - a double decker tram - very smart - looks efficient too.
Adrya Kovarch Asians love personalising everything don't they - lots of brash colours.
Adrya Kovarch I terrifies me the thought of having to live so close to others where space is such a premium.
Adrya Kovarch Glad to see that their culture is still valued.
