Brenton Kovacs's Travels
We arrive in Estes park early in the afternoon. The drive form Rawlins to here was only a few hours. We check in to the camp grounds, drop the trailer and head into the Rocky mountains national park. Its not long after the entrance that we come across some male elk's. Their antlers are covered in velvet and look so cool up close. We take the ridge drive across the rockies till we get to around 11,00o feet up. The views are just breathtaking. The weather is good with some blue sky. Still plenty of snow around.
I spot a few marmot making the most of the green grass. Nest its back into Estes park to set up camp for the night. Its looking like the weather is going to turn nasty. There is some huge rumbles of thunder and big bolts of lightning. Its starts to rain, but stops just as quick. Lucky for me its doesnt rain again so i am saved form getting wet in the tent.
A fox casually strolls past us with his fresh kill. He doesnt seem bothered by all the campers.
