Long time!

Well, we flew back to Australia and had a couple of days in Sydney, caught up with Ed. Sheryl, Jason, Billy and Talia and kinda got our bearings again....then Tom flew home! It was so weird, waving him off at the airport, I'll have noone to worry about and look after now!

After leaving the airport I drove to Newtown to pick up Claire, and we were on the road in no time, once we'd figured out how to get out of the city! We drove to Newcastle that day and stopped there overnight, its such a creepy place, it was a saturday night and the streets were completely empty, like a ghost town! We kipped there that night and set off again in the morning for Coffs Harbour, stopping at Port Maquarie on the way, along with stopping to drool at several nice beaches! Stayed above an Irish pub in Coffs that night, then made it up to Byron Bay the next day.

In Byron we checked into the Arts Factory, where we camped for the week. Its easily the best hostel I've stayed in, its got a spa, Buddha Bar, something on every night, pool, hammocks, a cinema and even a recording studio! Cool huh! In the week we pretty much chilled out, sat on the beach, did a bit of shopping, hung out at the hostel.

On the weekend however.....Splendour in the Grass! Its a music festival and its a pretty big deal in Oz, people fly in from all over! We saw lots of bands, Editors, Beautiful Girls, Cat Empire, Muscles, Operator Please, Lost Valentinos, Kaiser Chiefs, Lily Allen, Holly Throsby, Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys etc! So good! Favourite was definately the Kaiser Chiefs, they completely went off!! Bloc Party were a very close second even though I nearly got crushed in the crowd so we had to move!

Both of us were pretty dead on Monday morning - Claire had to get a bus to Coolangatta to fly home and I drove up to Brisbane to meet Cody and Kaylan (aka The Canadians) again. We went out for pizza and had an early night, and the next day drove down to Surfers Paradise (where we are now) to soak up the queensland sun :-)

Spent pretty much all day today bodyboarding - I still cant believe its winter over here and I'm in the sea in a bikini and boardies! And its not cold in the water! Wiped out several times, the worst when i tried to dive under an approaching wave and it just hit me in the face and held me under....lotsa fun though!! And not much threat of sharks around here which is always good to know!!

Anyway, were heading back up to Brissie tomorrow to meet Ben, one of the people I met in Austria 2 years ago! Cant wait! I'll blog again next week....ttfn!
