Left the hostel by about 10:30, stopped for a yummy fresh pear and mango juice from the corner and a raisiny bun thing. Took the Star Ferry from Tsim Sha Tsui over to Wan Chai over on Hong Kong Island - even though cloudy was a pretty spectacular boat ride, the city just towers all around you! We then got the MTR (mass transit railway - the underground except its much more efficient and clean than ours) to Central, and walked through Chater Gardens, which is a big square clearing amidst the skyscrapers of the financial district. Walked from there to the Peak Tram station, which took us on a very steep tram ride up to Victoria Peak. It was quite cloudy, but still really amazing views! Theres a big centre at the top with shops and restaurants and an EA games centre, where you can sit and play video games on massive widescreens! The boys were thrilled by it all so i sat and created us 3 as Sims, but because I made us teenagers I had to add a randomer called Kevin as an adult so that it would let us be a family!! We spent a while taking in the views from the rooftop terrace, before heading down into the centre to Eat Plus, a very yummy and cheap noodle bar. I had ramen with seabass and chilli pork dumplings....yumbo jumbo! i was a martyr and used my chopsticks the whole way through, whereas tom and eddy quickly gave into the temptation of the fork...i win!!
Came down the peak, then wandered into the Hong Kong botanical and zoologica gardens, which were very pretty, and had some rather cool monkeys! eddy wasted no time at all in pretending to be a gibbon! the birds and the jaguars were closed off due to bird flu in the area, which was a bit of a bummer but the monkeys more than compensated. We all got really excited and thought there were pandas, but they were black and white lemurs false alarm!
we were all pretty tired after our big day out so we just had a few drinks at an aussie bar, where i learnt how cricket scores work (so i can converse with sean about it without falling asleep!) then a drink at Delaney's, an irish bar, then a hop, skip and a jump to McDonalds (yes i was that hungry) and on home to the hostel and bed. I got an extra blanket to keep out the cold, but i think the last person who made use of it was a hairy tramp as the BO smell was overpowering and i had to use half a bottle of deodorant to make it bearable, but i still felt like i was sleeping in Lee Evans' armpit. Happy Days.
