Well today is day one of our trip, will we all arrive on time, have we all remembered our passports? Jeff and Shaun are taking us down on the minibuses so it's a competition to have the best party bus. We plan to leave at around 10am so I expect a few emotional goodbyes from parents, while others will be thankful for a month of peace and quiet.
We stop at burger king on the way down, when we arrive at Heathrow we meet Tanya, and Sabrina our Camps rep, we also meet the other school group including their teachers Amy and Rob.
Once on the plane I'm sat on the aisle next to Ashley, Ollie is sat across the aisle from me. Our leg to Dubai took six hours, the entertainment system is really good on the plane, and the staff are fantastic. When we arrived in Dubai we have a wait of around an hour until we get back on the plane for our eight hour leg to Brunei. On this flight we have our meal, I choose the roast lamb and veg, it was very tender and there was actually quite a lot of meat.
We get all of the pupils to take their malaria tablets so that when we are in Borneo they are being taken first thing in the morning with breakfast. After a little while I start feeling very hot and I vomit a few times, Ollie gets a member of staff to help me, so I sit in the staff area for a while as it's very cool in there, I get a packet of Oreos which is a winner.
When we arrived in Brunei no one knows what to put on the immigration form, luckily the staff don't actually look at them as mine was blank! Our final flight to Kota Kinabalu took around twenty five minutes, so no food but we were all given a glass of fruit juice.
When we arrived at the airport we are met by Camps staff who take us to our hostel, outside it is so hot and humid, which does make me slightly worried about how I'm going to cope. We get to our hostel, the Step in Lodge and the girls have the first floor and the boys have the second floor. I'm sharing a room with Sabrina and Amy, our room doesn't have any windows and is absolutely boiling, luckily it has air conditioning. I take the double bed while Sabrina takes top bunk and Amy bottom. Down the corridor we have a bathroom with two toilets, two showers and quite a few sinks.
