...And then we were back in good old Los Angeles!
We honestly didn't do a whole lot during that week, it was just a lot of relaxing and doing things we hadn't managed to squeeze in the first time.
We did go to the Getty Villa, which was pretty, but odd... and there was no potato salad, which made Marije cry. Before that little trip back to the ancient times though, we hung out in Malibu, on Carbon beach, outside David Geffen's little pad. He was nice enough to leave his gateway open, so we could enjoy the fine beach... and nearly drown in the crazy waves. Needless to say we didn't last long, but at least we can say we swam in the Pacific Ocean now!
Some of our time was also spent in Pleasantville, also known as Laguna Niguel. Our good old friend Zachary was lucky enough to stay with a native there, who owns one of the many houses that all look the same. Nice pool and jacuzzi, but after and day and a half, we were ready to speed out of there, back to the real world and speak to anything but perfect people.
One of the highlights was getting lost in Beverly Hills one night on our way to Blockbuster... yeah. We got a bit excited with the winding roads and ended up driving for miles and miles, only to find ourselves on top of a big ass hill on Mulholland Drive, with possibly the most amazing view either of us had ever encountered (although by now it is rivalled by the view we had from the Hancock Tower in Chicago last night).
Don't think it was all fun and games, we did visit the MOCA as well! And we took pictures of the Walt Disney Opera House while we were there, a beautiful building designed by Frank Gehry himself.
However, the last two nights of our (for now) final visit to LA were very much filled with fun and games. We went to see the Less Than Jake & Goldfinger tour in LA on Saturday, where we met up with Chris, got to see Matt again and met loads of new cool people. Seeing someone on stage while they were stood next to you 5 minutes earlier is kind of... weird. It doesn't get more normal the second time either, especially when you're on the guestlist cause you mentioned to the merchendise guy that you didn't have any tickets for the show yet. But it was so cool to see them play and hang out for two nights again, before we had to hop on a plane from LAX to O'Hare... (for all you insiders!)
