Thu 05/06/14 At Busselton today to walk their famous jetty in beautiful Geographe Bay. The jetty is the longest wooden framed strucuture in the southern hemisphere and extends 1.8km offshore. Beautiful, sunny day, slightest of breezes and not a cloud in the sky - perfect jetty walking weather. Took about 25mins to stroll out to the end. Kids were most interested to find a man on a stand up paddle board rounding the end of the pier to start the long ride back to shore. They were joking about making him paddle faster by calling out "shark"..... when Michael casually said "there is a shark"... and sure enough two white tip reef sharks were slowly gliding out from under the pier... it took a fair bit of convincing the kids that 1) the man wouldn't fall in and 2) if he did, they were not the type of sharks that eat people. There is an underwater observatory at the end of the jetty, but bit costly so we skipped it and headed back - Alexis & Michael successfully beat the trolley car back to shore, while Kaaren had the task of telling Lukas to "keep going" in front of her whilst pulling Brodie along behind, who complained most of the way back that it was too far, but eventually was distracted by some jellyfish which silenced her constant whinging, though she still had to be towed along. Back on shore we had a look through the old sandstone light house that is now the information centre, then back on the road to fuel up, quick lunch at Bunbury and made the drive to Perth. Staying slightly north of Perth at Karrinyup Waters TTP. Arrived around 3.30pm...that makes two daylight arrivals in a row...and did a full setup with annexe and wardrobes etc.
