It is not every day that you can say that you have seen a Blue Whale.....today was one of those days.
Before we actually got to Monterey Bay we drove the Big Sur scenic route (the Pacific Coastal Road). It was really pretty, althought slightly cold and due to the fact there was 3 stores within a three hour drive it was very expensive. Louis didnt appreciate the constant hills but made it to Monterey Bay, after a quick stop to watch some Elephant Seals which just happended to be laying on the beach by the road.
Monterey was freezing and for the first time in 2 months had to get the jumpers and coats out. It was even colder on a boat on the pacific as we decided to go Whale Watching.
Whale Watching was alot different to what we expected. We thought you would just drive about and they would be there floating and you could get close. Sam also thought it would be sunny, it was not. The boat drives about trying to spot the whales which only come up every so often for air. Once they go down again you have to guess where they are going to come up and pray your near.
We were quite lucky and saw a few Blue Whales and a few Humpback whales. Last try before we headed back and a blue whale came up within 40ft of the boat. it was big and blue. Thats all we know about it!!!!!!!!!
