A big howdy to you all!
First of all, i thought it might be wise to mention that I, Charlene am writing this blog entry today so if it's not up to the 'usual' comical standard, please be patient and false a few laughs out as what i'm about to tell you guys is rather funny!(Well we certainly had a few chuckles or two!)
Anyway.............We have reached Rotorua or more commonly known as 'Rottenrua' as i'm not going to lie, the place pretty much has a constant whiff of rotten eggs!Yummy! However, the place we are staying (Treks Hostel)is pretty swarveanda majority of our NZ possy are bunged up with Colds and all sorts and can't actually smell it....!
Hmmmmmm.....let's enlighten you on theactivities participated in;wellon Sunday we thought, hey let's go roll down a hill in a giant golf-like ballhamster stylie! It's called Zorbing and you basically jump into this ball, filled with a little water just to make it a little bit more random and roll down a hill! You start off running (like a hamster on caffeine) and after a roll or two end up with Feet, fingers, and legs in positions you never thought were possible! seconds after, a much dizzier and wet Laura, Jess and Char emerge out of the ball and onto the grass! The feeling of being reborn was thrown into the mix.haha.
The next day began with sleeping through both the alarms!Panic stations....run run run...arhhhhhhhhhhhhh no time for showers or even time to wake up before we knew it we were on a shuttle 'waitomo Wonderer' on our way to do The Abyss, A caving adventure (and boy did it definately turn about to be that!)We waited until our instructors came to collect usand handed us some very attractive wet suites, WET socks, tight jackets (waterproof corsets)and a pair of shorts (most with holes on each cheek),which we figured, just made us look even more silly!
We were driven to the cave and safety talks about abseiling soon followed. A few practice run through and then it was time to abseil into the depths of the cave! Everyone looked a little scared (probably by the fact that a rope and a piece of metal was our onlylife line!)I was first, downi went into the darkness dangling like Indiana Jones until the floor was reached and i was realised.........all i had to worry about now was seeing if Jess would over come her fear(S) of small spaces, heights, and darkness and take the plunge! After a few tears and some reassuring words from Laura she (i am very proud to say)came abseiling downlike a prowith the instructor a few minutes later!
The experience was amazing, we saw glow worms whilst floating along on rubber rings, hiked through the unknown, clammbered up waterfalls and loved every minute of it!We all came made it out i am pleased to say!
Anyway, time to leave you all!
Lots of love x.x.x
