Hey everyone, hope you're all appreciating the flurry, the plethora (oh yes!) of blog entries that are coming your way at the moment! Today, you are reading Laura blog entry.
So where are we? The day after the Fijian teenagers entertained us with their dances and songs, we all went for a hike through Mt Matakibau, a niceley beaten track through thick rainforest. We were dropped by the big green bus miles from where the hike started and promptly shovelled into a wagon-like truck, where we completed the journey to the start of the hike via the world's bumpiest road (it hasnt been officially named this, but judging by the state of our innards at the end, we think it deserves this provisional term). We think Watson was testing his dricing skills. So the hike began. We were all equipped with bug spray, water and jesus sandles (a godsend, forgive the pun), and a few steps in were also equipped with sweat of all kinds. Shoulder sweat, anyone? Knee sweat? Oh yes, we had the lot, and for your viewing pleasure, it has all been documented in photo form (not on here yet, don't all flock to the photo page!)
It turns out we are not that great at hiking (I can hear your gasps of shock from here). Charlene stumbled once or twice. Charlie tried to come to her rescue her at one point, only to end up almost slipping over in the same mud patch. From the back, I could have sworn they were ice skating, it was lovely! Jess' struggling point was the shin-deep wade through a creek that made up the middle part of the hike.  There was a time when we thought she was back in New Zealand while we waited for her to catch up. My downfall was the uncanny amount of backsweat I seemed to gain during the course of the treck, much to Jess'extreme excitement (she was the unfortunate soul behind me). Â
I have quite a bt more to write about this day but its getting late and'I haven't the money for another half hour (it's getting tight over here in Sydney, you have to understand!) so I will continue another time! Bye bye for now! xx Â
