Arrived here after a 26 hour sail, and we did sail. :) Sardinia is rocky but not jagged like Sicily; they are older or at least more weather-worn looking. Dotted along the southwest corner were their ancient wireless communication systems aka smoke towers used during daylight.
Arrival at the marina in the middle of almost nowhere was trickier than the others have been due to the wind and dock location. Larger boats like ours--24m or 82'--are limited or relegated to certain spots. This one required two 25-30' bow lines attached to floating buoys and then three very tight stern lines. Those stern lines when cranked in really groaned! Finally, the pasarelle--gang plank-like--was in place so we didn't have to leap off the boat to the dock. Thank heavens!
Although not much in the way of marina amenities, the area had beaches. They are well used (as they were in Croatia). Apparently, everyone drives to the coast for their beaches. Linda and I took advantage of the swimming beach area just off the dock. It was lovely and refreshing after the very hot day. (In fact, our high deck temp was 103.)
A powerboat, about 75', pulled in next to us. When either the owner, captain, or other left, the crew began to party. Bottles were opened and the music came on. We thought we might be in for a noisy evening; however, that wasn't the case.
We arranged for a taxi to take us into Teulada for dinner. The ristorante looked perfect for us. We enjoyed bread, wine (always di la casa) calamari, squid, shrimp, fish, and pasta. The ending was pass-around tiramisu that was yummy. :)
AC now on and a cool night for sleeping!
