On our first day we got to HK we arrived at the hotel at 5pm. Went to explore a bit and went to the party place lan kyai fong for a few drinks and something to eat. The major thing you notice about Hong Kong for me was the sheer size of everything so much bigger than New York. For Emma the first thing that she noticed was the shops i dont understand why you ever need that many shops in one city. Headed back to the hotel for some much needed rest.

Hello this is emma. phil and I have decided to do separate entries to avoid fights. On our next day in HK we took the tram to the star ferry pier. When we reached Kowloon on the other side we walked all the way up Nathan Road (the main street that is full of shops) and stopped for lunch. We then went to ladies market (a market for the ladies), flower street (a street full of flowers) and bird street (lots of birds in cages). In the evening we went out in Wan Chai on HK Island - lots of lights and strip clubs w little old ladies outside in hot pants.

We took the tram to Central and then walked to the Peak Tram terminal. The tram going up the mountain was very steep - at times it felt as though we were lying on our backs. it was a bit hairy and i was glad to get off!!! We then walked around the top of the tower on top and looked at the amazing view of HK island below. When we reached the bottom of the mountain we walked back down through the hilly street markets to the main high street. In the evening we went to Causeway bay for a really nice Indonesian meal, and then back to Central for drinks.

Our last real day in hong kong was a treat for me i was so excited to go the temple of 10000 buddahs and didnt mind going racing afterwards in Sha Tin. The temple was at best a bit tacky with gold plastic buddahs on each sides of the steps up towardss the temple. The temple was actually a lot higher up than we realised i supposed when you see escalators goin up you know you are in trouble. The views were good from the top nalthough i dont think either of us will be rushing back anytime soon. Next we went to Sha Tin horse race course which was unbelieveable to me and bemusing(boring) to emma. It was only 10HKD to get in about 80p what a bargin. There were about 100000 people and only 2 white people namley us least we dont stand out too much. Although we didnt back any winners it was an experince and shows how much they love to bet as horse racing is the only sport they can legally gamble on.
When we got back to HK island we headed for something to eat. OK we were feeling brave by now and maybe a bit too brave. I had soy source chicken on rice the chicken was cold and had bones in it i didnt eat much although emma seemed to be in her elementnearly eating her meal and most of mine while i slept and asked her to wake me up when she finished eating. After that we headed over to catch the star ferry for a nightime trip to kowloon. This was so we could see the light show which started at 8pm. To be honest you can see by the photos how good it was but i guess you have to be there haha. The lights were all in time to music and there were lasers. It was the pefect end to HK and something we will always remember.

Final comment: Emma: I love HK soooo much - it's my new fave city and I can't wait to come back. Phil: no comment he thinks this is stupid.
