Had an interesting and enjoyable few days. Spent Saturday on the beach at St.Lucia - White sand and clear warm sea -very relaxing. Sunday we were on Isla Margarita, Venezuela, something entirely different. A relatively poor population in stunning environment. Encountered our first tropical downpour which lasted half an hour - we got drenched but in the 90 degree heat and sunshine which followed we were dry in no time. This was the first rain on the island for months and people were running into the streets to take a shower in the rain, an amazing sight.
Today we are in Curaceo, Venezuala - another hot day. We wandered around the capital Willemsted, a town with heavy Dutch influence from colonial days - Willemsted is divided by the narrow inlet in the bay and we took the ferry from one side to the other. Another tropical downpour but it soon cleared, leaving the air less humid. Sheila bought some Delft pottery to add to her collection.
Tomorrow we are at sea, before we transit the Panama Canal.
Glad to hear that Wigan won the super league Grand Final - I know two or three people who will be highly delighted.
