Spent a few days in Mumbai, which were spent with family trying to get rid of the cold and cough I had picked. Then headed off to Goa. An hrs flight got us to Goa, from the airport we had a 1.5 hr ride to get us to Palolem in South where we were spending the first 3 nights. We got to Ciarans where we had a beach hut which overlooked the glorious blue ocean. the room had a private veranda which had a few chairs and a hammock afforded a brilliant spot to watch the sunsets. The beach was gorgeaus and unspoilt, we spent our days swimming and exploring the beaches as there were a few coves that were accessible at low tide.
After 3 idyllic days, we moved to north Goa, we were booked in a hotel in Anjuna. We got there and the atmosphere was totally different. It was run by a couple, we had a warm welcome, however the location of the Tamarind was very isolated. We managed to get a taxi to take us to Baga beach. When we got to Baga Beach, it was heaving with people and water activities, this was a complete contrast to the peace and serenity that the south gave. After 2 nigt we moved hotels to the Estrela Do Mar beach resort.
On the 2nd day in the north we stumbled upon this promotion that we had won a prize, only catch was that we had to spend an hour looking around the facilities of their hotel so we can pass on positive word of mouth to friends and family. We were looking for a hotel to move to so we thought we might as well see it and could make the dec to move there if it suited us. Along the way we got told different things and we were seated in front of this bloke who was trying to sell us a holiday share program. Undettered by our lack of interest he carried on tryins the hard sell but that did not persuade us to sign up with them,as we had predicted we won a weeks free hol and a bottle of wine. Surprise surprise the free hol couldn't be used as it has to be booked 4 weeks in advance!!! It was hilarious seeing the salesperson's frustration!!!
We spent 5 nights at the Do Mar, exploring the surroundings, visited the restaurants that had been recommended, the Anjuna flea market and ultimately moved on to Panaji where we were booked in to the Sun N Sand Hotel.
The Hotel was on top of a hill so had a spectacular view over the river. The service was gorgeous. We explored Panaji by foot, it is the political centre. We made it to a multiplex and watched a movie, the seats were amazing. Went on a floating casino, they are huge boats on the river that are made into Casinos. Get food, drinks and entertainment. The Casino Royale was recommended as the best one to visit. They open at half 7pm and shut at 5am, it was a fun evening. On the last day we visited a restaurant in Panaji called Zest- North Indian and Oriental cuisine. The food was amazing and the service was faultless.
We then made our way to Mumbai after 2 weeks in the sun enjoying mid 30 temp.....
