The Louvre: Paris.
In probably the shortest of the blog entries, not even the pictures could tell the 1000's of words to best explain the amazing historical and artistic representation contained within an equally amazing building. It's an over used phrase and it's significance has become considerably diluted, but you CAN easily spend a few days there and still not take it all in.
Highlights:
Sheer size of the Building itself / sheer size of the collection / the monumental pieces such as intricate 18thC jewellery and ornately detailed Egyptian coffins as well as traditional framed artwork / the enormous size of many of the framed pieces / from the largest to one of the smallest .. The Mona Lisa of course / the novelty of the front row with their backs to Mona, taking the 'Mona Selfie' / falling victim to the Mona Selfie peer pressure.
Speaking of Historical, the ratio of actual photographic cameras vs phones. 1:1000.
Big Day, almost as tough on the legs as riding the bike in the mountains. SSAT suitably capped of by soaking in Paris by night on the ridiculously panoramic 33rd floor of the Hyatt Regency.
