Icefields Parkway to Jasper & Jasper
The Icefields Parkway is 230km drive connecting Lake Louise to Jasper. This drive was probably my favourite park of Canada. After three days of snow the sun had come out and there was not a cloud in the sky making it the perfect day to experience the highway. We took so so many photos on this drive so we’ve picked some of the best ones to show how amazing it was.
Jasper has a lot of lakes. We visited Medicine, Maligne, Patricia and Pyramid lakes. Very pretty but would have been much nicer in summer. We went to the Maligne Canyon and did an ice walk tour. The tour took us along the frozen canyon floor between limestone walls and cascading frozen waterfalls, up to 27 meters high. We also squeezed into a hidden ice cave formed by a frozen waterfall descending over a rock cavern. At first when our guide picked away this tiny opening and told us to go in we thought he was joking but he wasn’t and it was very cool. The ice was about as thick as the length of my leg, pretty impressive!
Leaving Jasper we got treated to some of the locals, several groups of big horn sheep who had come to lick salt of the road. So like all good tourists we stopped on the side of the road to get some photos! Never thought i’d be telling Craig to stop on the side of the road so we could take photos of sheep!
