So, last week Dave and I both had two days off together and we decided to hire a car as the beaches are about an hour away on the bus! We drove up to Port Douglas a tourist town about an hour north of Cairns, we didnt really know what to expect as it was very spontaneous and when we got there it was like any other seaside town, a nice beach with lots of seafood restaurants and lots of sun! Thankfully it wasnt too full of other tourists as it was a Monday. There wasnt a lot to do up there apart from the beach and eat steak for dinner..so that is what we did! On the drive home we drove past a few kangaroos, which made the drive totally worthwhile. The car we hired was some ridiculously small box, and over here the indicator and windscreen wipers are on different sides so we kept wiping the windows with no water or rain instead of indicating, it was rather funny! We then spent the evening with Jamie my flat mate, looking round the nightmarkets and ate opposuite the cafe Emma worked at when she was here! There are Thai massages here for only $15...Ill have to do that one day!

So then on the Tuesday we just drove to a local beach called Trinity beach and sunbathed for the day, it was extremely hot i think about 34degrees (yes I did use suncream!)
