Well what an interesting hotel to stay in Edinburgh. Last night went to the Standing Orders Pub in Rose Street for drinks. Rose st is not as beautiful as it once was it is tooodern now. Anyway the hotel Parliment House Hotel is 3 old buildings joined into one and unfortunately i am in the old side. From Reception it is 3 flights of stairs up walk through 2 fire doors and corridors then 2 flights of stairs down then another fire door to my room. But the hotel is lovely and everyone who works here are so friendly. Had the best nights sleep then began my wander down Princess Street. Walked all the way down to houses at the very end of the street then had lunch and wandered i to Waverley train station to check times to Glasgow tomorrow. Cane back to hotel to dump some goodies then back walking and decided to hop on a tram. As it was coming i didnt use the new fangled ticket machines on the platform thinking i could buy a ticket on the tram. Wrong. But i got a lovely conductor who took pity on me and only charged me for one stop and not a fine as well. Hopped on a tour bus and got a wonderful commentary from a scotsman. He had the bus laughing. Trivia time - do you know why the say 'he kicked the bucket' when someone dies? It is because when scotland hanged someone they wanted to draw out the agony so just had a rope around the neck tied to a bucket. It took about 1/2 hour for some one to die. Edinburgh is still a beautiful city and i am loving being back here. Off to Glasgow tomorrow.
