I've learnt that Asia doesn't suit everyone; and with sad goodbyes to my bestie Jordan in Koh Samui I was invited to stay with Nick and Anna before heading to the full moon party island. Sitting overlooking a swimming pool to my left and to my right down upon the amazing Koh Samui itself - palm trees as far as the eyes can see, the line broken up by the turquoise and deep blue sea.
I've done two bike rides, about one hour each, since I've been here which has been amazing. I've actually felt like I've done some exercise! The first ride we cycled/struggled back in monsoon-type rain. Me in my flip-flops (usual attire), toes touching the water that streamed down like a river as I peddled and water lashing down piercing my body; but we laughed the whole way! We had a couple over for lunch where I experienced a new food called Naan To, a traditional northern Thai dish. It was very spicy (as every Thai dish is) and consisted of pork/beef in a type of sauce with sticky rice and raw vegetables served separately. You roll the sticky rice into balls and dunk in the sauce with the meat in and eat the vegetables to take the spiciness away (or try to anyway). It was delicious. We also went to see Nam Tok, a town which I have never explored here until now, towards the west of the island. The heat was blistering, but that didn't stop us having a lovely lunch and a quick shop.
I drove a truck! And I drove it up the steepest and biggest hill I've ever come across in a four wheel drive! I knew that coming out here for the time I have been and not driving a car would make me have to take lessons when I was back home - especially with getting used to the crowding and eratic driving in Asia - but I did it! Yes, I did need a quick reminder about which one was the brake and the clutch (slightly worrying mind...).
So its goobye to Koh Samui for the second time and hello Koh Pa Nang for the full moon party!
