Today we had our first, much needed lay in, 9.30!! It was great!
Started the day with the loveliest fruit platter for breakfast. Our tour guide Cam collected us.
First stop - the Chinese floating temple and houses was lovely to a change in culture, such a diverse country!
Second stop - the temple of the snake, a religious place where those who believe the snake is a ruler will come to pray! Here we were able to hold a snake, I was frightened to say the least, but well worth it and the photo we took was great! Whilst at the temple we were also able to see a range of snakes and watch a snake charmer training his two King Cobras! We learnt that they are extremely poisonous, and when the human is bitten they have approx ten minutes to get to the hospital before they will die. The nearest hospital was an hour and half away!! The charmer had been between once, he had a nasty gash to his arm and told us he was in a coma for 5 days!
Today we had a really great tour guide, he was mixed Chinese and Malaysian and was able to tell us all about the culture and the history of Penang!
Great day finished with a walk around the local town! On to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow, and the Cameron highlands!
