Hello for the last time folks!!!
This will be the last message that we'll be posting before we hit the shores of good ole blighty!!!
Andy and I are now back in thailand after hopfooting it around Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos! WE had an amazing time where it felt like anything and everything happened to us from 28 hour bus journeys, Near death coach crashes, ripped off by locals and a very bad bout of food poisioning suffered by me on a 12 hour bus ride to Vietnam....it wasn't pretty and the less said the better fro my own dignity!!!!!
Our first stop was Cambodia which I have to say is my most fav place so far, the place is so poor and underdeveloped but the people really made up for it, we met some great cambodians who took us in and showed us the cambodians ways......Although when we were taken to downtown Phon Phem I did have suspicions of making it out of the ghetto alive! Whilst we were in camboda we got ourselves involved on a volunteer programme helping out with the local kids at an after school club, we also went to the local orphanage and took treats for the kids...it is so worthwhile and such good experience.....angeline jolie and brad pitt have got nowt on me and andy!!!
Next stop Vietnam......apart from the nice beaches and cheap suits this place really did nothing for us, we were ripped off as soon as soon as we stepped out of the hotel door and this would be a daily occurance....i wouldn't mind but unlike the thai's they didn't even do it with a smile on their face....hence we didn't stay very long here and moved on Laos before we were left penniless!
I never actually thought we were going to make it to Laos.......the journey began at 1.30pm where we were picked up from our hotel in Vietnam....we were told that the journey would be 13 hours with an overnight stay at the Laos border....nice one we thought.....I couldn't have been more wrong....after 10 hours from our original pick up we were dumped at a service station our tickets taken from us and told to sit and wait....not a hotel room in sight.....so we waited and waited and finally after 3 hours we were picked up by another coach....we should have guessed by the weary looking westerners that got off the coach that the next leg was not going to be good....and quelle surprise it wasn't....we were boxed in amongst smuggled goods with no air con when we finally got to the border that was another three hour rigmarole of signing forms and giving away dollars here and there to bent policemen. We crossed the border and we hadn't been driving for more than hour when it was time for breakfast...well if you can call pigs trotters and fish soup breakfast I quickly declined but our bus driver didn't hold back as he tucked into his soup and necked three beers for brekkie. WE got back on the road and about 20 mins into the journey CRASH! It turned out that we had hit a rock in the middle of the road....any sober driver couldn't have missed the boulder....so we were all turfed off the bus and told to wait while three men and a dog attermpted to fix the broken drive shaft with a mallet! In turn we all kicked back by the roadside played cards and in true backpacker style said its all character building! Two hours later we were back on the road and we finally reached our destination at about 6.00pm.....to say I was tired and delirious is an understatment!
After our nightmare trip we finally found sanctuary in Vang Vieng.....awesome place where we spent our days coasting down the river in tubes drinking Laos Whiskey, by nightime we were partying in the late night bars and when we weren't tubing we lazed around watching films int the local bars....not a bad life! Next stop was Luang Prang which was a lot more laidback than Vang Vieng but a welcome break from all the partying we had put our bodies through in Vang Vieng!
After just over a week in Laos it was time to take the final trip back to thailand....we decided on the slow boat....and I do not use that term lightly the boat trip in total took 2 days...9 hours a day!....the first day was nice taking in the scenery but after the first few hours it started to grow thin! Again after what seemed like days of travelling we arrived in Chang Mai where we caught up on sleep and partied downtown with the resident lady boys!
We are now in Pai which is the bohemian capital of thailand and so far so good.....the plan now is to kick back and chill out before returning to bangkok for our flight home!!!
We can't actually believe a year has gone by already but then again I suppose as the old saying goes time flies when you are having fun! It really as been an adventure from Oz to NZ and finally thailand and what we have learnt about asia....anything and everything goes...we def have a few stories to tell!!!!
We really can't wait to get home and see you all.... it will be good to catch up with you all then and have a well overdue drink.....i'm dying for a glass of decent vino....haven't had any in months and I promise after one two many I wont droan on too much about travelling.....we want to know what you guys have been up too!!!!!
To all of you who we met along the way....be sure to keep in touch and to keep on having fun and to those of you who are now back in London we can't wait to hook up!!!!
Loadsa love and more!!!!

Sa wa dee ka,
Andy and I are now on the last leg of our journey and what adventure we are having so far here in thailand! We were thrown in at the deep end when we arrived as it was thai new year and Bangkok was in full swing.....in way of celebration the streets are opened up for one massive water fight and you have no choice but to get stuck in......it was a great laugh but after the fourth day getting soaked from head to toe and covered in flour was not the greatest!
After meeting up with my mate Carrie we moved swifly on down south where we have spent the last three weeks island hopping......we partied hard in ko phan yan then moved to Pi Pi which was just as nice although it was a bit too 18/30.
After all the neon lights of Pi PI we then decided to go off the beaten track and explore one of the untouched islands......we paid a water taxi driver to take us to Ko Jum and there we were dumped in what felt like the wilderness, there was no electricity and the nearest shop was an hours walk..... we attmepted this and when we arrived it was a womans house with a few supplies....our chances of finding any whiskey were down to none as the island was muslim so we were sent off packing with our tales between our legs!! Nightime on the island was a whole different experince hearing noises that would put the wind up anyone....i think I spent most of the night in fear praying to the big man himself that I would make it off the island....it didn't help that the only other traveller staying there had 666 tatooed in the back of his head and took to dressing up at night as a woman.......don't ask!!!!
We have joined up with a dutch couple too who are teaming up with us for the next month or so as we travel through Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos.....should be an experience......its def going to be off the beaten track!
We are now in Bangkok getting us ourselves booted up and ready for action in Cambodia...i'm told that the recreational sport there is shooting a round of bullets with an AK47!!!
All in all having a top time.....def a culture shock form the luxuries of Oz......if we get a toilet with a flush and sink its 5 star...i'll never complain about a travelodge again!!!!
Hope you are all well and not long left now before we return and get to ramble on and bore you all with our tales!!
Hope you enjoy the pics!

Hi My Darlings, Been a while since I've left a message but as I'm off to Devon tomorrow to see Lena and the DRESS and I won't have a computer thought I'd have a chat. How are you coping with Captain Chaos then? Looks and sounds like your all having a ball and I can't wait to see you and get all the traveling tales even though we will probably get the diluted version! We are still podding along in France it's been great being back here but the job is a bit of a disappointment so we are not staying.Doug is loving the fishing though Andy and so would you, he says they are animals and the lake is full of them.He is down there strimming out lots of swims and sorting out paths when he is supposed to be strimming the garden!! He hates bloody strimming and we have to pay a gardener at home but where fishing is involved it doesn't seem to matter. 6I'm really excited about seeing the dress I hope that I don't burst into tears when I see Lena in it, Kes says she looks stunning. I even cry when we listen to the music she wants to walk in to, so heaven help us on the day but what a day it's goona be. Anyway I'll say bye for now you get the e-mails so you know most of the news. Take Care of each other and ENJOY EVERY MINUTE,Lots of Love, Sue and Doug XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
