We checked out of Hoa's Place and on to a bus at 2pm, traveling a little further up north to Huè, which was formally the capital of Vietnam. Arrived in Huè after about a three and half hour journey at 7pm but didn't have any hostel booked up so for the first time had walk with the backpacks towards a hostel we found in ''the book'' for about 25 minutes. We found and checked into the DMZ hostel for three nights due to our first impressions of the place, which were very very good and headed straight out for some dinner at the ''why not'' restaurant where I had the biggest plate of crispy fried noddles I'd ever seen, it was humongous, and very tasty! There were lots if bars around that were offering drinks deals on happy hour so after a few vinos we ended up in Brown Eyes Bar, where we were given a flyer at the start of the night for two for one drinks and free vodka and cokes, we felt we had to give it a try, this was obviously the main hangout for many of the locals and students around who were there playing pool, drinking, smoking, dancing and generally having a great time, so as the beers where flowing we joined in, which didn't take much persuading. The dj was playing pretty much all westerner music where I figured this is probably where they learn a lot of the English language due to everybody singing along like a karaoke session. We ended up staying out till 3am and got pretty messy.
I could tell straight away that I was going to enjoy Huè, from the atmosphere and the vibe that the people there giving off, it seemed like the kind of place where you could stay for a good while.
