We headed out of Vientiane and south, all the way down to the Laos/Cambodian border, but not over the border just yet. Next was a couple of nights the very chilled out and laid back 4000 Islands, where the Mekong breaks up into thousands of tiny little Islands, hence the name. Upon arriving we was shifted around a number boats before finally arriving at our island "Don Det". We'd made friends with another couple from Manchester, Shaun and alex, and we found Mr.B's Bungalows, which were a number of wooden huts located right on the bank of the Mekong. With a balcony and two hammocks and just a a double bed, we was already loving the simplicity of it, I didn't thick Laos could get any more laid back. Both wanting to do some similar activities for the next day we headed out and found a reliable looking tour operator and booked a whole days worth of kayaking, seeing two waterfalls and dolphin spotting for an early 8.15am start to the next morning. We decided to get some whiskey and coke and head back to the huts and drink while watching the sunset unfold right in front of us, turning the Mekong fiery red and orange. Time seemed to stop still and felt so peaceful while we rocked in the hammocks, watching the sun disappear. A perfect end to the day.
