Arrived in Koh Samui, after an epic coach ride, 17 hours on a coach and boat. The coach was not fun and games. We were 1st taken to the random hostel to wait, it was mayhem trying to get on the correct coach, which later broke down before we even got on the move and then later had to stop to fix a light about 3 hours in.
So glad to have arrived on Samui, it's a beautiful island, the tropical paradise we were longing for after the busy streets of Bangkok.
Our hotel is bungalow in a resort, a small teak hut. It makes me feel like I'm actually traveling and I'm somewhere exotic. After stripping down to nothing as our room was a 100 degrees because the air con had not been on in days, we headed down to the beach. We found a small restaurant next to the beach, not a sole in site. PERFECT!!!
Had lunch and then made a home on their sun loungers to enjoy the rest of the day's sun.
Later, after a much needed nap, we went to a German restaurant and had the most amazing meat kebab, I know not very Thai but some much needed home comforts.
Our 1st full day in Samui, we ventured to see the 'beautiful' big Buddha beach, this was a disappointment, it was filthy and full of rubbish, you could not sit on it.
So after lunch and booking our boat to full moon boat trip, we made our way back to the hotel for some beach times after a very long walk, which nearly killed me, as we could not find a taxi, we ended up finding a small old Thai lady who called us one.
As I forgot to mention before our hotel was under some improvements, one of which was the pool. 37 degree heat was not the best to be walking in, so we managed to find a hotel that would let us use their pool for 100b - 2pound.
The following day was full moon party, so we slept late, we ate late (my food was horrible) and followed it by some time by the pool. We then had some drinks and waited for our taxi to pick us up to take us over to the speedboats.
We arrived at the speedboats, to go over to Ko Pang Yang, I loved the speedboat, it was soo fun...my boat fear is starting to go as i'm on them so often.
We arrived at full moon, covered us in UV paint and went to get some drink; we had a warm up drink in a bar near the beach which was cool. Then moved down to the beach, which was CARNAGE. Drinking, huge skipping ropes on fire and slides going through rings of fire. We saw people from our coach ride, Jess made a friend and we saw the people we met from the pool the day earlier.
We had a bucket of booze and by god they are deadly, one of them and I was gone. A lot of things were hazy but we managed to get home via the boat and taxi.
My overall opinion is that it was alright, but it wasn't amazing, a lot of drunken ozzy's and Europeans on a beach, it could have been anyway, but I'm glad I went.
The following day, OH MY GOD!!! I have never been so ill from 10am to 2pm; everything was falling out of me....at both ends. I couldn't leave the toilet.
I ended up having a bed day and a Mcdelievery for dinner.
The next day was our day to say goodbye to Samui and move on to Koh Tao.
