Viva Las Vegas!

The one thing about Vegas, other than the 'bleep bleep' of slot machines; Mexicans constantly trying to give you cards advertising Escort Girls; the extravagant and completely over-the-top hotels; the 'anything goes, anytime' attitude; the scores of American families on holiday there; the 'bleep bleep' of slot machines; the 1001 music/comedy/magic shows that you can go to........is the heat!
My God, it was hot.

We also visited the Hoover Dam which was very impressive indeed. After watching a very patriotic video about the construction of the dam (all the videos we've seen at these places have like this), we went on a quick tour into the belly of the beast, so to speak. (A good chance to get away from that heat)!
It was slightly worrying to see how low the water levels are - 8 years of drought is not helping matters (although neither are those hundreds of bloody golf courses in Palm Springs)!

Anyway, I have to say I really enjoyed Vegas - it wasn't quite as over-the-top as I thought it would be. Yes, it IS over-the-top, but in a fun way!
Vegas is definitely an oasis in the desert!!!
