Sooo we arrived in queenstown to a massive rain cloud that after a few hours decided to open but then stop soon after so we booked into a campsite so that we could have a shower and use some decent toilet tissue. We went out that evening and wandered round having a beer in a few different pubs and then coming across two english girls out side a pub having a fag, so as you do we went over and got chatting, they had been living in nz for 2months and still had 2 left up in christchurch work in a hotel. Another night P*ssed up and another hangover for the morning but not to serious! The next morning we went into Shotover Adventures place to book up the Shotoverjet and to see what other bits they had to offer and then left the 309NZD lighter and to return at midday to do the shotover jet boat a helicopter ride and white water rafting, so a quick trip to subway and starbucks for a cofee and we went back,(the subway loyalty card is filling up well now). So the jetboat, pretty cool, the drivers are very well trained and were getting us closer to the rocks than i'd prefer to be but it was a rush and just the excitment that we were looking for. after that we had to go and be suited up in out rafting gear, not another wet suit, ive realised after surfing in devon that the wet suit does nothing for my figure, does my bum look big in the, yes was the reply, cheers mate. so loaded onto a bus we were driven about five mins up to where the helicopter would take off. then it arrived and off we went in this bloody helicopter. I dont mind hights but this was in a bubble. Knotty on the other hand was quite used to it being this was his second trip in a helicopter.(but for a slightly different reason) that dropped us off down by the rafting were we had a massive talk about safty and what to do if the raft was to tip over but the stressed that of course they were profesional trained rafters and that although it could happen, chances are that it wont. so off we floated down the river, with our instructor an english guy from norwich and a family of up there own arse toffs called as they introduced them selve 'the Roy Family'. Oh wonderfull some english posh family who said that they were all good swimmers and that they ran a swimming pool. And the boyfriend of one of the girls claiming he was Mr Green and that rafting was a very Green sport, and who are you... 'well im knotty and he's benny and we love motorrbikes and anything with an engine' Knotty said, stick that in ya green pipe and smoke it haha. so we were floating down the river and learning all the different manovers and commands etc blabla bal. In about 10 mins were be at our first real rapids and its called jaws so is everyone ready said our instructor. Oh yes were ready, up till then it had been a lit bit boring, then about 2 mins before we got to 'Jaws' our instructor darren i think his name was, jumped up and said' ig otta felling were gonna tip over', then rushed about doing something with some rope, 'right everyone ready' he said again ' do as i tell you'. 'get down' he shouted and quick as a flash were our of the boat and drowning in the river, about 8 other boats had done it perfectly not us. it was all abit of a rush, id managed to get out from under the boat6 and grab hold of the rope around it and knotty was hanging on the front. i could see the other instructors rushing about the one shoputed out, swim for it so we did across the rapid swimming our nuts off. Well we made it to the side well i has hung on a rock watching knotty on the bank and looking behind me and thinking sod this if i let go im off down there. so once both on dry land and with a couple of the'Roy' family we were sorted onto other boats and traveled down the river to where our boat had eventually stopped and all climbed back on it, one of the girls claimed she thought she was gonna die and asked what i thought and i said'man that was awesome, possibly the best thing that had happened all day'. When we were all together i ask knotty the same thing and he agreed that it was the b*ll*x and that altho a bit scary we both loved it, not the Family Roy, they couldnt wait to get off, (so much for the green sport eh?).
