Today we got up very early (6.30) and got ready to go to kuranda...we booked the trip half asleep yesterday so we didn't know what it was going to be like. But we were pleasently surprised..we were picked up by a coach which took us to a small town on the outskirts of the rainforest, from here we took a very old train which took us up a steep mountain railway. In all honestly the train itself was crap!! But once It got to the top we had a great time. We looked around kuranda village, and looked at some of the local aboriginal artwork (which we were very tempted to buy but it was very expensive) during our time in kuranda we braced ourselves for the 'scary bit' and explored the rainforest. I (victoria) was very scared That I was going to see a huge spider but to my delight I didn't see any..only very small ones! Thank god! We saw Byron falls which was an amazing waterfall, and we managed to take some great pictures. We also saw a 'crashed plane' so i (victoria) and ben thought we would go and check it out...as we walked down i grabbed ben to stop myself falling, on what i thought was an iguana but ben seems to think it was a lizard that suddenly appeared at our feet....only to find out the plane wasn't an old crashed plane but a prop that was used in a film! As we walked through the rainforest it started to rain (no surprises there) but luckily we didn't very wet as we were just leaving to get the skyrail back down the mountain. It started off brilliantly with very clear skys as the rain had stopped but then it chose to Start again..which didn't dampen our spirits but did make the run from the bottom to the coach abit wetter (it's not very easy running in flip flops!!). Because the weather is turning we have decided to go straight to mission beach to do the great barrier reef rather than cairns. We have booked into scottys beach house, which looks really nice and we are going to spend a few days chilling out by the beach and snorkling in the reef!
