Apologies for not giving you all an update sooner, we were far too busy enjoying ourselves in our amazing surroundings! Just to give you a quick idea of our itinerary:
We picked up our hire car in Christchurch and stayed overnight (rained all day!), headed South-west towards Lake Tekapo for a night before making our way further south to the adventure capital, Queenstown, for a few nights (Jet boating & Skydiving), then made our way to Milford Sound on the West coast (Sea Kayaking), back up past Queenstown to Lake Wanaka for 1 night, then further up the West coast to Fox (and the mighty Fox Glacier), further North for another overnighter at a small township called Punakaiki, famous for the Pancake rocks & blowholes. After a night in Punakaiki we again headed North, this time to the highly recommended Abel Tasman National Park, which was just beautiful! We stayed at AT for 2 nights before heading back down the East coast to Kaikoura for our Whale watching encounter, before finally returning to Christchurch. As you can see from above, not much time in between driving and doing our various activities for regular blog updates.
So, we successfully navigated the south coast (even with Sarah's misguided understanding of left and right). Absolutely stunning and will surely be returning here agin one day. Hopefully we have done it justice with our new photo albums? Bet you wish you were here!!!
