Today started off badly, after managing to avoid traffic, cars obstacles and everything else in America so far. I managed to graze Dora on a tree. By graze I mean I broke the back light. I was gutted, my only because it's not my car, it's the first time something like that had happened. So naturally, that was first on the agenda, to try and fix her. We drove to nearby San Luis Obispo and went to a Ford dealership to check out what the damage was. They basically said we needed a new light assembly, and they didn't have one, so we thanked Mani for his help and left for Sacramento. It was a longish drive and again our only stops were for petrol, where a guy with a mustang asked me for some cash for fuel, which I was sceptical about, considering what he was driving. The weather again was lovely, sun all the way and 30 degree heat. But it was weird now not travelling on Route 66, strange not having to keep to dirt tracks and old disused roads, but we pressed on and went to a place called Fayetteville, near Sacramento, we weren't staying in the centre as it was too expensive, and this KOA was about a 45 minute drive away. We arrived a little later than expected and got our little welcome pack with some sweets in it, which was nice. We had eaten on the road in the car, turkey and cheese sandwiches, the cheese was awful. I just want some cathedral city or pilgrims choice again, proper cheese. Anyway, we pitched the tent in the dark and then put all the bedding in and went basically straight to bed, we had been on the road all day and we were quite tired by now. Tomorrow we would catch up on some sleep, or Marie would I should say.
