Good day to you! This is a post by Ben.
Since we last spoke we have FINALLY left the lovely (and cheap as a chipped potato) Tango Beach Resort (it deserves all those capitals) and traveled to Krabi- a port town in Thailand and the hub for those who want to travel onwards to Malaysia and the island of Phi Phi.
But first I'll catch you up with what has been happening since Sarah's last post. Jon had his birthdays here and we went out for a few drinks for that- including a memorable visit to a lady boy cabaret show. It was....brilliant. I loved it. It was glitzy and camp and the rubbish off time miming just added to the show's brilliance. It was also very clean and family friendly until the clock struck ten and it seemed the watershed had been passed. (children turn away now)
The penultimate act of the evening was a truly ugly Britney Spears impersonator who, on each chorus of "Im not a girl (not yet a woman)", would reveal his/her genitals. I like to think of myself as having an open mind but I was nearly sick. Still, it was a lot of fun and a photo (not with Britney!) will be up soon of me, Sarah and a six foot blonde. No genitals in sight.
We went Thai Boxing one night which I was very excited about- though it was a bit of a disappointment in the end as the majority of the fights were between people of about Sam's age. It was just wrong. Sarah kept saying - "are they actually going to make those children fight?" The main event (or so i thought) was featuring an Englishman so I was all ready to reveal my cunningly hidden union jack, join the rest of the ex-pats in a rousing God Save the Queen and show Johnny Foreigner what for when our English representative "Superbanks" revealed himself, amidst much fanfare, to be a ten year old.... and a rubbish ten year old at that. Ah well.
Since Gemma and Jon left the weather has been shocking... full on monsoon for three days with waist deep water and all roads leading anywhere flooded- making pretty much everywhere on the island save Chaweng beach inaccessible. To pass the time we just mooched around the cafes and shops.
We have also had suits made up, both came to under a hundred quid and fit like a glove. I think spending money was almost too much for Sarah as she nearly fainted whilst having a fitting done. That or she fancied the tailor... I'm hoping the former.
As I mentioned before, we are now in Krabi and the weather is freakin' boiling. Only my post office brand water (yes, really) is keeping me alive. Soon we travel to Phi Phi (thats pronounced pee pee...some of you may find that funny. I don't......)
Take care all of you and enjoy winter...yak yak yak
