Hello, and apologies for the lateness of this blog. We have been racing round NZ on a hectic schedule generally just doing hectic activities, with a few more still to come. Since our skydive in Taupo, which was the most amazing experience ever, we have continued heading south.... We spent a night in River Valley where our white water rafting was cancelled due to the water level being too high; it had managed to rain for a whole day on the way there pretty much! Our last stop on the north island was Wellington, the capital city of NZ. We spent 4 days here, taking in the culture, with visits to the Te Papa museum and also a number of walks. We also managed to catch a Super 14 match, Hurricanes v Lions, which was good fun, although a little one sided!
We then travelled on the ferry across to the south island, our first stop being Nelson. Although it was a quiet little town, it was good fun and we managed to find time to walk to the centre of New Zealand. After that we drove down the west coast to a place called Wesport. On the way we stopped to do a couple of beautiful walks round lakes and mountains. We also did a random activity of jetboating. It was so much fun riding a boat down a river at 100km per hour, doing 360 degree turns and getting soaking wet in the process!
After the fun of that we moved on to our fancy dress party. Pretty interesting time, and if you find the right pics you'll appreciate the effort of our outfits I'm sure. The highlight of the west caost was in Franz Josef, where we went on a full day glacier hike. This was so much fun, and a little bit of hard work thrown in. We covered about 2km of the glacier which is 11km long. Serious work towards the top of it, but the views were worth it.
We are now in Queenstown, and have met up with my friend from back home. We will stay with him for a few days to save a bit of money! We've got a bungy jump to 'look forward' to. 134 metres over a conyon, so I'm sure there will be footage and pics of that up soon! A few other activities also to do here. Just can't believe we only have 10 days left here. It has flown by way too fast! And it's a lot warmer back home than here!
Love to all, Ben and Sam. x
