hello
sorry it has taken soo long to write but we have been having too much fun. i will fill you in on the basics:
we have been to seaworld twice and got in a cage and fed the sharks which was really good but would be better if there wasnt 2 inches of plastic separating us from the sharks. then we swam with the dolphins which was really fun had a water fight with them but think they won. then we went to hervey bay and went over to fraser island which is the largest sand island in the world so it was very sandy but really pretty, we saw dingos and swam in lakes and creeks. also expereinced some sort of bed bugs in our double bed where i was getting eaten and ben managed not to until i woke him up and he noticed them, then we had fun popping them and watching them squirt all my blood everywhere which was nice. then we went to magnetic island which was lovely and stayed in a really nice hosel which has a koala sancutary on sight so we had a bushtucker breakfast with them one morning and then a tour round the sanctuary where we held koalas and crocs again. then we left the island after doing some walking through the rainforest where we were scared a snake was gonna get us. went to the station on the mainland to go to carins but afer a ferry and 2 busses we were told when we got there there were no trains or busses as cairns was flodded. so we went back to the island as the town was a dive and spent 2 more nights there and did another walk where we tried to spot koalas in the wild but they were hiding.
we finally made it to cairns and only had 3 days there now so went to the barrier reef where it was really choppy and stormy, ben was sick on the way there along with half the people on the boat, then we couldnt go snorkling cos it was soo rough so we tried an intoductory dive. got all kitted up and then got into the water where i panicked and grabbed on to our instructor who was a bit shocked and made it round to the side of the boat where he told me relax and breathe. easier said than done when you are holding on to a metal bar getting smashed around into the boat by 3 foot waves. so in the end i had to get out and ben managed it but it was pretty rubbish as you couldnt see much. the next day we went up to the rainforest on a tour which was really good, did some walking and had some interesting fruit up by a creek.
we left for darwin by plane and went to the domestic terminal as you would think that is where an internal flight goes from and with 10 minutes to spare someone told us it was in the international terminal obviously, so we had to run over there.
now in darwin we had a day round town before going on a trek to kakadu national park which was really good, 8 of us crammed into a landcruiser for about 300km. did some bush walking and lots of swimming in water falls, a guide from another group decided to bring in a cantoad while we were eating dinner and then a snake wich was interesting then they sat around and entertained us by playing pots and the didgeridoo. back in darwin town we had a couple of days before we left oz. so we went to a crocodile farm where they breed them for their skin and meat. got to feed massive ones with a piece of rope which was cool. ben also bought a big didge so should be fun to hear you all try and play it.
